Research Interests
CIGHT was created to develop and produce affordable diagnostic devices for infectious diseases plaguing developing countries. One of our initial projects is to develop a point-of-care quantitative RT-PCR assay to monitor the viral load of patients infected with HIV-1. My specific role is to develop and optimize the molecular biological components of this assay including RNA purification, reverse transcription and PCR.
